School Tours to Skerries Mills

A unique experience showcasing the only site in Europe with two Sail Mills, a Water Mill, and a bakery. Skerries Mills is a social enterprise that preserves and interprets three national monuments, which are two very different sail mills, better known as windmills, and a Water Mill of the 13 th century.

We are an industrial heritage museum focused on energy, and how wind and water were harnessed so successfully by our ancestors..

Visit the Great White Windmill of Skerries on a guided tour that allows your students to understand the power of this monument to human engineering. Experience the thatched four-sail windmill which dates back to a monastic site before the Reformation and the closure of the monasteries under Henry VIII. School groups also enjoy a demonstration of the Water Mill.

While our mission is to protect the structures of the five-sail, four-sail, and water mill, telling the story of energy, we have a wealth of materials to share. If you are interested in agriculture or more localised topics, our museum has collected extensive resources over centuries.

VISITS AVAILABLE BY GUIDED TOUR ONLY
